The GreenVET4U Online Platform: Supporting VET professionals in Uganda

As Uganda advances towards a greener and more sustainable economy, Vocational Education and Training (VET) practitioners and in-company trainers play a crucial role in preparing learners for emerging labour market opportunities. Supporting these professionals with innovative methodologies, digital tools and up-to-date training resources is essential to ensure that vocational education remains relevant to the skills needed for green jobs.

To contribute to this objective, GreenVET4U has developed an e-learning platform that brings together a range of learning resources designed to support the continuous professional development of VET practitioners and in-company trainers. Through courses, practical guidance and training materials, the platform helps educators strengthen their capacity to design and deliver innovative curricula for green jobs in Uganda.

Users of the platform can access:

  • Guide on Digital Competencies for Virtual Learning: A practical guide aimed at improving the digital competences of VET practitioners and in-company trainers, supporting their effective use of digital tools and virtual learning environments.
  • Lessons Plan: A structured collection of training content and practical learning activities focused on the design and delivery of innovative curricula for green jobs. The Lessons Plan can serve as a reference framework for implementing training programmes aligned with labour market needs.
  • E-Learning Courses: A comprehensive set of online courses developed to support VET practitioners and in-company trainers in designing and delivering innovative curricula for green jobs. The courses provide practical knowledge, methodologies and tools that can be directly applied in vocational education and training contexts.

The learning resources available through the platform are directly linked to the six competence areas identified in the Competence Matrix on Design and Delivery of Innovative Curricula in Skills for Green Jobs developed by GreenVET4U project partners:

  1. Building business-education partnerships for curriculum design and work-based learning delivery
  2. Identifying skills for green jobs
  3. Introducing green entrepreneurship skills in curricula
  4. Integrating digital technologies and educational contents in the curriculum
  5. Addressing inclusion and diversity, common values, civic engagement and participation in curricula delivery
  6. Quality assurance and digital-supported validation of competences

Together, these areas provide a comprehensive framework to support VET professionals in developing relevant, innovative and labour market-oriented training programmes.
